Nola Morey - Researcher-in-Residence

Nola Morey

Researcher-in-Residence

Nola is a master of science student exploring black bear ecology in Nova Scotia, with experience in both mammal and bird research.

Originally from Vancouver, British Columbia, Nola holds a bachelor of science in biology from the University of British Columbia. She is currently a master’s student at Acadia University in Nova Scotia, where her research focuses on the diet and movement of black bears across the province, aiming to better understand how these animals interact with their environment.

Before shifting her focus to mammals, Nola gained experience in avian biology. She worked as a curatorial assistant in the bird collection at the Beaty Biodiversity Museum and participated in remote fieldwork at a tern colony, where she supported long-term monitoring efforts.

Nola will be joining the Adventure Canada team as a Researcher-in-Residence. As part of this initiative, she will be conducting at-sea seabird surveys, helping to monitor species distribution, abundance, and habitat use in remote areas. Outside of research, Nola enjoys spending time outdoors—whether hiking, cycling, or swimming in the ocean. She also appreciates quiet moments and can often be found curled up with a good book or knitting project.
