Nivi Mondejar - Inuit Cultural Educator

Nivi Mondejar

Inuit Cultural Educator

Proudly Inuk. Living heritage, every day.

Nivi is an Inuk from the coastal town of Sisimiut, Greenland. Proud of her roots, she graduated from the National Suit School, where she learned the traditional art of making Greenlandic national costumes—an important part of Inuit cultural identity.

She works in catering at Restaurant Nasaasaaq, one of Sisimiut’s well-known establishments, and speaks three languages—Greenlandic, Danish, and English—in her daily life. Her multilingualism reflects her ability to move confidently between cultures, connecting with both locals and visitors.

Nivi has previously worked as a summer guide, sharing the beauty and traditions of Greenland with guests from around the world. She is also learning the traditional Inuit drum dance, a powerful expression of community, storytelling, and spirituality. This ongoing journey deepens her connection to Inuit heritage and keeps the rhythm of ancestral knowledge alive.

Through her craft, work, and cultural learning, Nivi embodies the spirit of modern Greenland—where tradition and everyday life come together with pride and purpose.
