Nicole, B.Env.D, M.Arch, is an emerging Inuk designer passionate about culture and the built environment. With roots in Nunavut’s Kivalliq region, she was among the first Inuk architectural graduates in Canada. Her work spans community design, infrastructure, feasibility studies, and exhibition design. Nicole is interested in learning from circumpolar leaders and exploring diverse approaches across Arctic communities. She is committed to culturally responsive, collaborative design that supports sustainable development and strengthens Inuit sovereignty.
As a Young Explorer, Nicole will explore an architectural research project that explores coastal Arctic communities and the land, examining how Inuit communities function and identifying patterns, opportunities, and challenges that may shape future Arctic environments. Â
