Jason is an Inuk expedition leader and educator with a distinguished career in exploration, cultural advocacy, and capacity building. Raised in Nunatsiavut, he developed a profound connection to the land through extensive travel, traditional practices, and hands-on experience in remote environments. Today, as a leader in the travel industry, Jason guides expeditions across diverse regions, bringing a depth of knowledge, expertise, and cultural insight that transforms exploration into meaningful engagement.
Jason’s approach to exploration goes beyond logistics and education—it’s about creating experiences that inspire reflection and dialogue. He encourages participants to engage with complex global issues such as reconciliation and environmental stewardship, fostering opportunities for learning and deeper connection. His work brings together Indigenous educators, community stakeholders, and organizations to challenge assumptions, build relationships, and amplify voices that are often overlooked in traditional narratives of exploration.
Jason’s contributions have earned him recognition, including the Parks Canada CEO Award for his role in developing visitor experiences at historically significant sites, the Royal Canadian Geographical Society’s Martin Bergmann Medal for Excellence in Arctic Leadership, the New Wave Leadership Award, and inclusion in The Explorers Club 50, recognizing fifty individuals shaping the future of exploration.
Through his work, Jason challenges conventional perspectives on exploration, ensuring that travel is not only about discovery but about fostering respect, understanding, and lasting connections between people and place.
