Ashley is an Inuk from Nain, Nunatsiavut, who now lives in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Ashley is very passionate about helping Indigenous peoples break down barriers to accessing services and helping Indigenous peoples and non-Indigenous people better understand each other.

Ashley is from Nunatsiavut and currently lives in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and works as the coordinator of the Indigenous patient navigator program. This program offers translation services, navigation, advocacy, education, and more to Indigenous patients and prioritizes identifying and breaking down barriers to accessing health care. A part of her role in the health care system is to educate medical students and professionals on what those barriers are and who the Indigenous groups/peoples are. Raised in Nunatsiavut, she has a connection to the people and the land through travel, traditional practices, and lived experience in remote and isolated communities.
